Abstract
Genes have an important role in the field of physical education and sports, as they are considered responsible for half of the variables in physical performance.
With the introduction of biological technologies into the sports field, it was possible to identify genes that help predict natural athletic abilities, through analyzing the DNA of high-level athletes, to help create a genetic framework for different athletic abilities. The benefit of this is not limited to the sports field only, but it can be applied in selecting individuals to undertake special jobs that require specific physical abilities, such as army and police personnel. The researcher believes, through the above, that genetic tests are the ideal solution for countries with a weak sports base to detect sports talent, especially in the field of individual sports with distinctive physiological and anthropometric specifications, in which the age of reaching the championship is early. Since excellence in any sporting activity requires three basic elements: selection, training, and competition, it is not possible to achieve high sporting results without good selection. If selection is based on sound scientific foundations, this will be reflected in the training and competition processes, increase their effectiveness, and make it possible to achieve the best results in the quickest time and with the least effort.
